A traditional method of getting rid of stains from granite countertops while avoiding heavy cleaners and abrasives is to create a paste using simple and gentle dish soap, water and flour.

First combine the 3 substances in appropriate amounts to post a semi-think paste. Mix the paste well until all the clumps of flour are removed and the paste becomes nice and smooth. Apply this paste generously on the stain and cover with plastic wrap. Make sure the plastic wrap clings smoothly to the granite around the stain. This is to ensure that the stain does not dry out and covers the stain uniformly. Leave the the paste on do stain for 12-16 hours. When you are ready to remove the paste, make sure you use a plastic or wooden utensil. To prevent scratches or other damage, do not use a knife or any kind of abrasive. If done properly, the stain will be gone.

A less time consuming way is to use what GCW recommends: our 113M granite countertop cleaner. 113M will clean, polish and protect your granite countertops, in one step, ensuring that the beauty and your counter tops will last for a long time. The consistent use of 113M will make the granite surface easier to clean and will leave a water-resistant protective layer to protect the counter tops from spills, hard water dark stains and etching. It is safe and easy to use. For more information or to order, call one of our granite experts at 404-592-5599
